Baxi boiler warranties - The complete guide

Knowing what’s what when it comes to your boiler’s warranty is essential. You need to be up to speed on what elements are covered and how long for in the event of a breakdown so you can organise to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Baxi, like any boiler manufacturer, offers different warranty packages for its different products. The length and level of cover included in your manufacturer’s warranty will alter depending on the model and range of your boiler, so it’s important to find out the specifics at the point of purchase.

To help make things clearer, the BOXT boiler experts have put together this guide to explain everything you need to know about Baxi boiler warranties. Keep reading to learn how to register your Baxi boiler warranty and find out the different terms and conditions you need to follow to keep your boiler’s warranty valid.

Boilers from Baxi

Baxi is one of the most well-known boiler manufacturers in the UK, with a history of supplying homeowners with affordable boilers and heating systems that stretches back to the 1800s!

Baxi offers a wide range of boilers, from combi models that are perfect for smaller properties to large system packages that are designed especially for bigger homes with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. As a manufacturer, Baxi is celebrated for providing some of the more budget and mid-range options available on the market, but this doesn’t mean they compromise on quality.

Baxi boilers have an average rating of 4.5 stars on Trustpilot from over 25,000 customer reviews - proof that the boilers and the aftercare supplied alongside them are of a high standard.

What is a Baxi boiler warranty?

Boiler warranties are a crucial part of any new boiler package. They provide you, the customer, with peace of mind that your central heating system meets certain quality standards and that it will be looked after in the event of anything going wrong after installation.

Baxi offers a range of warranties that vary in length and the level of cover provided. Generally, longer warranties will be issued alongside more expensive or top-of-the-range boiler models, as the manufacturer is more confident in the reliability of these products compared to more affordable alternatives.

It’s important to note, though, that any boiler warranty will have certain terms and conditions attached to it that you’ll have to meet to ensure its validity. If you fail to uphold the conditions stipulated in your warranty agreement, it’s likely that the warranty will no longer be honoured by the manufacturer.

What’s covered by a standard Baxi boiler warranty?

Baxi boilers all come with a 2-year warranty as standard, but the more premium models will come with considerably longer warranties, sometimes extending to as long as 10 years. It’s always worth checking what’s provided with your specific model by checking the documentation Baxi issued you when you purchased your boiler.

A standard warranty from Baxi covers parts and labour - this means it will be covered should any mechanical components fail due to a manufacturing fault within a set period of time. The warranty will cover the cost of the replacement parts and the labour required to carry out any boiler repairs.

Baxi boiler warranties do not cover external issues such as incorrect installation, failure to keep up with servicing requirements or sludge in the boiler’s system. If any of these issues are found to be why your boiler has stopped working, you’ll need to pay for the replacement parts and the labour required to fit them.

How long do Baxi boiler warranties last?

Different Baxi boiler models have different warranties, and the duration of these usually depends on the price of the boiler itself - the more expensive the boiler is, the longer its warranty period will be. Here’s a breakdown of the different Baxi boiler ranges and the warranty length provided with each.

  • The Baxi 800 range has a 10-year parts and labour warranty (This is subject to a magnetic filter being fitted and maintained for the length of the warranty. Otherwise, the warranty will revert to only 2 years.)
  • The Baxi 600 range has a 7-year parts and labour warranty
  • The Baxi 400 range has a 5-year parts and labour warranty
  • The Baxi 200 range has a 2-year parts and labour warranty

If your Baxi boiler has a longer warranty and you decide to move house before it expires, you can transfer what’s left of the warranty period to the new owner. To ensure it remains valid, though, the new owner will have to keep up to date with the annual services.

Having a boiler that’s still within its manufacturer’s warranty can be attractive to potential buyers, so investing in a newer or more premium model with a longer warranty is still definitely worth considering, even if you think you might move in the next few years.

How do you keep your Baxi boiler’s warranty valid?

Keeping your Baxi boiler’s warranty valid (and, therefore, making sure you can get it fixed in the event of something breaking) comes down to ensuring that you are following the rules set out in the terms and conditions of your contract.

As standard, Baxi’s warranty conditions state that validity depends on the owner registering the warranty within 30 days of installation, having the Benchmark checklist completed by the installer and an annual service carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. If any of these criteria are not met, the warranty’s duration will be reduced to 1 year.
